We’re raising a puppy for Canine Companions.
Canine Companions is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities through the partnership of trained service dogs. Founded in 1975, the organization provides expertly trained assistance dogs at no cost to recipients, fostering independence and improving quality of life. Each dog undergoes extensive training to perform a variety of tasks tailored to the specific needs of individuals, from opening doors to providing emotional support. Canine Companions also promotes public awareness about the capabilities and benefits of service dogs, creating a more inclusive society for those with disabilities. Through their commitment to excellence and community support, Canine Companions continues to change lives one paw at a time.
Our Job
Puppy Training
We’ll be teaching our puppy basic obedience commands and behaviors to prepare it for the six month service dog training later.
Puppy Socialization
Our puppy will go almost everywhere with us so that when she becomes a service dog it will be totally normal to be out and around.
Puppy Loving
Most of all we will be loving our furry friend as if she was ours forever. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it:)
